My Heart is Full
My dad was a football coach, and my first thought after the polls closed Tuesday was something he always loved to say after a hard fought contest:
"We left it all out on the field."
We sure did, and I'm grateful to you for working so hard on this campaign. I've been taking some time to collect my thoughts, now that it's over, and I wanted to share something important with you.
Today, my heart is full.
Full of appreciation for this amazing opportunity. Full of blessings from the many wonderful people I had the chance to work with and meet during the campaign. And full of love for a state that I will continue to fight for.
I know you're disappointed, but please know that I couldn't have made it as far as I did without your support, your encouragement, and your advice. Together, we changed the concept of what it means to be a "credible candidate," and that is a victory I will always treasure.
My favorite times during the campaign were the thousands of conversations — at meetings, on the phone or on social media (my Tweeps are the best!) — where we shared ideas and talked about the best course for the future of California and for our nation.
Those conversations will continue to resonate and call us back for other challenges. I look forward to whatever lies ahead and to continue sharing my thoughts and plans with you.
Thank you with all my heart,
